Established by the Thunder Bay Municipal League and awarded, in perpetuity, to a Lakehead University student who has shown academic proficiency and leadership, and who is registered in his/her second, third or fourth year in Political Science.


The student must be registered in or have taken a minimum of two courses dealing with Canadian Politics. Preference will be given to students from the member municipalities served by the Thunder Bay Municipal League.


The award is made on the recommendation of the Department of Political Science. Margaret Sideen served as a Councillor for the Municipality of Paipoonge and was a dedicated supporter of the Thunder Bay District Municipal League. Margaret served as President for two terms, 1967-68 and 1973-74.


The plaque is permanently displayed in the Oliver-Paipoonge Municipal Office. The following persons are recipients of the annual award:
